A fan favourite at Kaizer Chiefs, who had plucked him from African Wanderers, the speedy Nomvete scored South Africa’s first goal at the Olympics, and netted again in the win over Brazil. ‘Bhele’ went on to spend a number of years in Italy, turned out briefly for Orlando Pirates, and then gave many years service to Moroka Swallows. He is the only member of the Class of 2000 still playing, turning out for Uthongathi in the NFD.
