VIDEO: Katsande's advice to young footballers

He's one of the most decorated footballers around, but Willard Katsande is not resting on his laurels - he is working overtime to ensure that his life after football is not one of struggle.

It's well documented that many players struggle once they hang up their boots. Up to 75% percent of ex-professional footballers from Europe & South Africa, within five years of retirement, will be bankrupt, divorced, drug- or alcohol-dependent, or a mixture of these predicaments.

Katsande, formerly of Ajax Cape Town and Kaizer Chiefs but now at Sekhukhune United, is not prepared to fall into that trap. He used the AFCON break in January to set up a construction company, Katsande Partners, and also a fashion line, Boss Ya Mboka,

And he is keen to share his story, to spread the message and make sure that young players start planning properly and very early.
