Pirates starlet thanks ‘Shuffle’ for launching career

Young Orlando Pirates midfielder Kabelo Dlamini says it’s unlikely he would be where he is had it not been for Jabu Mahlangu.

Like ‘Shuffle’, Dlamini hails from Daveyton, where the former AmaGlug-glug, Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs star spotted him. Mahlangu recommended the youngster to Farouk Khan’s Stars of Africa Academy, where he graduated before joining Bloemfontein Celtic.

“I would like to thank Jabu ‘Pule’ Mahlangu a lot,” Dlamini is quoted by KickOff.com. “With all that is happening to my career, it’s because of him … he is the one who paved the way for me.

“He took me from the streets to coach Farouk Khan. I don't have any words to appreciate him for helping me to launch my career.”

Mahlangu was also developed by Khan before making his name at Chiefs in 1999. He also had spells in Austria and Sweden, and at local clubs like SuperSport United, Orlando Pirates, Platinum Stars and FC Cape Town.
