Mamelodi Sundowns have introduced a new role in their development system, appointing Surprise Moriri, their former attacking star, as the coach for the U-19 team.
Moriri, renowned for his impressive performances during the 2010 World Cup with Bafana Bafana, previously coached Downs' DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) U-23 team in the last campaign.
The official announcement from Sundowns stated, "Former player Surprise Moriri has been appointed as the new head coach of the Sundowns U-19 team. During the past season, Moriri served as the coach of Sundowns' Diski team, which achieved a fifth-place finish on the DDC log."
Emphasising the significance of their youth and academy structures, including talented 13-year-old recruits, the club highlighted their commitment to development and long-term investments for the club's future.
As part of their continued efforts to bolster their academy coaching staff, Mamelodi Sundowns intends to make further announcements in the near future.
Moriri, a decorated attacker, previously played for Sundowns from 2004 to 2016.
