Mathebula appointed Chiefs U19 coach

David Mathebula has been appointed as Kaizer Chiefs’ Under-19 coach.

‘DVD’ has previous coaching experience at TTM and Marumo Gallants, and will also serve as Chiefs’ reserve side’s assistant coach alongside Vela Khumalo for the DStv Diski Challenge.

“In keeping with the club’s strategy of bringing in individuals who understand our philosophy, we are very excited to welcome coach David Mathebula back to the Village. We believe he will add a lot of value to our youth structures,” AmaKhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr said.

Mathebula burst onto the scene at Dynamos in 2002 before winning his big move to Chiefs, where he scored 11 goals in 109 appearances and lifted seven trophies.

He left for Moroka Swallows in 2011 and also starred for SuperSport United before hanging up his boots at TTM. The former midfielder also won two Bafana Bafana caps, with his debut coming against Burkina Faso in August 2013.
