Klate resurfaces at new club in the PSL

Former Chippa United head coach Daine Klate has found a new home in the Premier Soccer League as he's been unveiled as the new head coach of La Masia.

At 38 years of age, Klate took on his first head coaching role with the Chilli Boys, stepping in to replace Kurt Lentjies just before the commencement of the 2022/23 season.

However, his tenure was brief, lasting only seven games. During this period, he secured a single victory against his former club Orlando Pirates, while losing four matches and drawing two.

After just seven games, Klate was succeeded on the sidelines by Morgan Mammila, who remained in charge until the end of February. Then, in a curious twist, Kurt Lentjies returned to the helm, bringing the Eastern Cape club full circle.

Following his unexpected dismissal by the club, Klate had been out of the spotlight for a while. In April, he resurfaced as one of the new Nedbank Cup ambassadors. Now, he's embraced a fresh opportunity by taking on the role of head coach with MFC side La Masia.

La Masia's season began with two wins, two draws, and three defeats. Presently, they occupy the ninth position on the MFC league table and are set to face Casric Stars.

Klate steps into the position vacated by Delano Hendricks, who had been leading the team since the start of the season. Hendricks is believed to have returned to a Technical Director role, a position he held when Sutton replaced him last season.

Additionally, Klate will reunite with his former Pirates and Bidvest Wits teammate Moeneeb Josephs, who is already serving as the Goalkeeper Coach at La Masia.
