COVID-19 costs Kannemeyer coaching job

David Kannemeyer

David Kannemeyer is the latest in a long list of people to lose their jobs because of the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown.

The former AmaGlug-glug defender, and ever-present during the 2000 Olympic qualifying campaign, was in charge of Western Cape SAB League outfit Nova Nacional FC.

However, the suspension of all football-related activities, coupled with the uncertainty of when things will return to ‘normal’, has prompted club officials to sever ties.

“Nova Nacional Football Club would like to publicly announce that as a result of the 2019/20 Regional 3rd Division League being suspended indefinitely due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, head coach David Kannemeyer and his assistant coach Zane Alexander are no longer with the club,” the club announced.

“Nova Nacional Football Club would like to express our appreciation for their contribution to the senior team and wish them the best for their future endeavours.”
