Former Bafana Bafana left-back Bradley Carnell counts Benni McCarthy among the three best South African coaches around.

Carnell, who currently works as assistant coach at MLS outfit New York Red Bulls, was asked to name the best local coaches currently doing the rounds, and he had no hesitation counting his former AmaGlug-glug teammate amongst those.

“Benni McCarthy came in at Cape Town City and he did a great job with them,” the 43-year-old told leftbackfootball.com.

“Rulani Mokwena... I think he’s highly educated with his coaching expertise and he's had the best platform to learn and to grow. It's only a matter of time before big things come from him.

“Fadlu Davids, as well, is another coach, a young up-and-coming. If you always look at a young up-and-coming coach, you always have to go one step further back, what were his roots and who did he look up to.

“Now, it's up to them to find their own way.”

McCarthy, who has a UEFA Pro Licence, was head coach of Cape Town City for almost two-and-a-half years, and guided the club to their first ever piece of silverware when they lifted the 2018 MTN8 trophy.
