Bartlett lands Galaxy job

Former Bafana Bafana striker Shaun Bartlett has reunited with Owen da Gama after being confirmed as TS Galaxy’s new assistant coach.

The 48-year-old has been with a coaching job since last season, when he parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs following the departure of Ernst Middendorp.

However, Da Gama’s appointment at Galaxy last week opened the door for a reunion, with the pair having previously worked together with the South African Under-23 side. Da Gama also coached Bartlett at Bloemfontein Celtic.

“I recommended Shaun because I've worked with him in the past,” ODG is quoted by KickOff.com. “I coached him at Bloemfontein Celtic when he came back from overseas. I also worked with him as an assistant in the Under-23.

“I know his talent and his commitment to the game. Most importantly I admire his work-ethic. I know almost all his characteristics. We have to work very hard now. He understands the South African game very well.”

Bartlett is not short on coaching experience, having previously led both Golden Arrows and University of Pretoria.
